WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The victim in a shooting in downtown Wilmington on Sunday has died from injuries.

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), 34-year-old Raquan Wilson passed away at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center over the weekend.

Officers responded to the 100 block of North Front Street after hearing multiple gunshots on July 6, just before 2:30 a.m., stated WPD.

WPD says when officers arrived, they found one victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. Officers attempted life-saving measures, and the victim was transported from the scene to meet with EMS.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the WPD Criminal Investigation.
