Wilmington man catches 504-pound fish during Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Kirk Pugh from Wilmington caught a 504-pound marlin on day one of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament on Monday, June 10.

Pugh along with Captain Rom Whitaker’s teammate and owner of the boat “Release” won the Fabulous Fisherman’s Division worth $1.7 million.

Of the 302 boats competing in the tournament, 271 were out on the water on Monday, and the tournament will end on Sunday, June 16.
