Wilmington City Council to discuss surplus properties, rezoning for proposed Circle K

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington City Council on July 16 is set to discuss surplus properties, a rezoning for a proposed Circle K and more.

Multiple resolutions are being considered to declare 114 North 2nd Street and 115 Market Street surplus properties and to authorize an upset bid process for those properties and 115 North 3rd Street.

After getting approval from the planning commission, the proposed Circle K for 1.76 acres at 1618 Dawson Street heads to the city council. To build it, the property would need to be rezoned from Urban Mixed Use to Community Business Conditional District. It would also include a small grassy area with benches and flowers.

At the same planning commission meeting, a proposal was approved for 14 two-bedroom residential units as townhomes on 1.16 acres on 1805 Adams Street and 1812 Washington Street next to Dram Tree Tavern. The proposal would require a rezoning from Commercial Services to Community Business (Conditional District).
