WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Debby is expected to bring up to 10 feet of rain to North Carolina, and there are steps you can take right now to protect your home from flooding.
The sooner you get started with preparations to prevent flooding the better, as flooding can leave lasting damage even after the water is long gone.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, maintaining a proper runoff and drainage system can make a huge difference. Installing flood vents, which are small permanent openings that allow water to flow, can also help prevent damage.
