WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The United Way of the Cape Fear Area’s (UWCFA) Fall Trike Race will be held on Oct. 24.

Businesses from real estate groups to HVAC technicians will gather at The Eagle’s Dare at 420 N 3rd St to support charitable causes and friendly competition.

“This semi-annual fundraiser benefits UWCFA in addition to granting winning teams a prize of $500 donated to a nonprofit of their choosing. The UWCFA Trike Race raises awareness for over 40 nonprofit partners supported by United Way funding in the Cape Fear region. Money raised is leveraged to go back into the community and support critical programs that have a history of serving our most vulnerable populations,” UWCFA wrote in a press release.

Participants should arrive at 3:30 p.m. and races will begin after, running until around 5 p.m. The races will occur in three heats with the final heat between the top two performing teams, with the winner receiving a donation of $500 to a nonprofit of their choosing.

A bonus of $250 will be donated on behalf of the team with the best Team Spirit.

The public is invited to attend and watch the event for free. Donating is encouraged and no advance registration is required.

Beverages will also be provided at the event.
