WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Local NBC affiliate WECT–TV and UNCW will broadcast five men’s basketball games on the station’s channels in February.

The schedule kicks off with the Seahawks’ Feb. 3 game against Coastal Athletic Association member Campbell, which will be shown on the main WECT channel.

The next four games will move over to the station’s secondary channel, Bounce (6.2), beginning with Drexel on Feb. 8.

“We’re excited to be partnering with UNCW basketball to bring these games to the viewers in the Cape Fear region and make Seahawks Basketball accessible to fans over the air. This is a renewal of a partnership that began 64 years ago, and we look forward to continuing and growing it,” said WECT Vice President and General Manager Mark Mendenhall.

“Wow, what an exciting time for our program and what an exciting time for our university!,” said UNCW Head Coach Takayo Siddle. “It gives us an opportunity for people locally in Jacksonville and some other surrounding cities, it gives them an opportunity that if they can’t make it to a game, to be able to just turn on a TV and watch us play. It gives other people that haven’t seen us play an opportunity to watch our guys compete, our fans, they get to see our home crowd. So, there’s so many positives that come out of this.”

Below is a list of channel assignments for Bounce in the Wilmington market. Dish Network and DirecTV do not carry Bounce.

These games will also be streamed on FloHoops, the official streaming partner of the CAA.

“This is an exciting opportunity to grow our brand,” UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger said. “One of the nuances of our FloSports agreement is to provide local linear opportunities and we are going to take full advantage of it. I am excited for our fans that live outside Wilmington and now can watch our teams compete!”
