WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Seahawks are preparing for a semifinal matchup against the Charleston Cougars in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament.

After securing the second seed in CAA, the ‘Hawks are playing their second game in two days and are just two wins away from a CAA championship.

On Sunday, the Seahawks had an impressive 14-point win over Hampton. With four players putting up double-digits, Head Coach Takayo Siddle says his team knows what’s at stake.

“We prepare for everybody like it’s a championship obviously, and I thought our guys had a really great way about them all week, really focused on ourselves. I thought we really prepared well this week. I think that’s what got the job done,” says Coach Siddle.

A win Monday night against the Charleston Cougars will send UNCW to the CAA Tournament finals.

Although UNCW beat Charleston twice in regular season matchups, Junior Guard, Noah Ross says they are focused on playing one game at a time.

“It just goes to show how well we prepared all week. Staff did a great job preparing us, and attacking every day just one day at a time,” says Ross. “And taking all these games as one-game tournaments, not looking ahead to who we’ll maybe play.”

UNCW will face the Charleston Cougars at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
