WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -The UNCW Board of Trustees will discuss the potential development of a third parking deck and a third phase of the Student Housing Village on Tuesday, June 25.
The deck would be located in the northwestern quadrant of the campus to provide more convenient access to the new Welcome Center, Randall Library, and Kenan Auditorium.
The deck would be constructed to reduce traffic congestion on the central campus and control access for special events.
Student Housing Village Phase III is anticipated to be on the land vacated after Galloway Hall’s demolition.
“As indicated through the campus master planning process, new housing is needed in the southern portion of the campus to better accommodate future growth and to appropriately meet students’ needs and expectations. Benefits offered by providing new housing facilities will include, but are not limited to,” the board’s agenda states.
