UNCW athlete named Swimmer of the Year by Coastal Athletic Association
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A UNCW Seahawk has been named Swimmer of the Year by the Coastal Athletic Association.
Cameron Snowden will be joining postseason honors Maeren McGonigal and Ian Frazer and Diver of the Year Ethan Badrian.
Snowden participated in the NCAA Championships with a qualifying time in the 100 Butterfly and competed in the 50 Freestyle, setting a program and conference record in the 100 Fly at 51.57 seconds.
She won both the 50 Free and 100 Fly.
McGonigal was the conference champion in the 200 IM and the 100 and 200 Backstrokes and was honored as the Swimmer of the Meet.
Frazer swam in the championship finals in three events and earned silver in the 400 IM and bronze in the 200 Back.
Bobby Guntoro was also honored as Men’s Coach of the Year and Gavrillo Blijden was the Diving Coach of the Year.
Blijden was able to lead Badrian to a sweep of the diving events while Nic Newis posted a pair of runner-up finishes on each board.
Guntoro helped the Seahawk men to their fourth straight conference title.
