UNC intends to hire Michael Malone as the school’s next basketball coach, report says
Michael Malone is due to take over the UNC head coaching job after the school fired Hubert Davis.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WRAL) – The University of North Carolina intends to hire longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as its next basketball coach, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.
A source confirmed the hire to WRAL. Other outlets have confirmed the move.
North Carolina has been searching for a replacement for Hubert Davis, who was fired after five seasons.
Malone, 54, is an NBA champion when he coached the Denver Nuggets during the 2022-23 season. His daughter Bridget Malone plays volleyball for the Tar Heels, and Malone has been on campus at times throughout the season.
