PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Three tornados were reported to have touched down around the region during Tropical Storm Debby by the National Weather Service.

The fastest of the tornadoes was an EF-2 that touched down near Harrells, NC, from 2:09 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 7. It reached peak winds of 115 miles per hour and had a path length of 4.6 miles and a maximum width of 40 yards.

One EF0 tornado damaged a property on Ash Little River Rd NW on Tuesday at approximately 4:09 p.m. Several trees were reported uprooted or snapped and one home and a fence suffered minor damage.

Another EF0 tornado touched down on Aug. 7 at 2:43 p.m. at Old Maple Hill Road N. The tornado snapped a tree at a property and downed several limbs while moving west through the intersection of NC-50 with Old Maple Hill Road North. Eyewitnesses stated it continued across a large farm field and lifted after crossing the highway.
