Two arrested for allegedly assaulting Wilmington police officer

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Two people were arrested for allegedly attacking a Wilmington police officer after getting pulled over on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, they pulled over the vehicle near the 700 block of Manly Avenue for failure to maintain the lane and asked the passenger to step outside for an outstanding warrant.

Police say that the passenger, 24-year-old Latez Pollock, became combative and assaulted the officer. The 23-year-old driver Jaya Graham then stepped out and assaulted the officer, per police.

Pollock was charged with failure to appear on felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, assault on law enforcement officers, and resist/delay/obstruct.

Graham was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resist/delay/obstruct and failure to maintain lane.

Both are being held at the county jail without bond.
