WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) – The Trooper Kevin Conner Memorial Run is returning this year to downtown Whiteville on Oct. 12.

Conner was killed in 2018 while pulling a person over in U.S. 701 in Columbus Co.

Proceeds from the run will benefit the Trooper Kevin Connor Memorial Foundation’s scholarship fund.

“This year we are awarding two $10,000 scholarships: one to a Columbus County student and one to a Bladen County student. These students are selected based on their community service and academic achievements. The foundation also awards two yearly Trooper Kevin Conner Blue Line Legacy Scholarships for students from anywhere in the state of NC that is a dependent on a law enforcement officer. Every year we hope to expand our number of scholarships and the amounts awarded as we grow the Foundation,” an announcement from the organizers states.
