WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The trial of a man charged in the 2021 shooting death of 23-year-old Oarmonz Dikal Days began Monday, Feb. 5, according to District Attorney Ben David.

Adrian Lynn Point, now 32, is accused of murdering Days on March 11, 2021. Point faces first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Point’s brother, Joseph, was also charged in the shooting with conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at Sixth and Nixon streets at approximately 2:50 p.m. and found Days in critical condition. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

On Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, it was revealed in court that Point rejected a plea offer by the state. The plea offer was to second-degree murder and possession of a gun by a felon, serving up to 31 years.

Online records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety indicate Point previously served over five years in prison for multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The jury selection is set to happen Tuesday and the trial is set to begin on Wednesday at the New Hanover County Courthouse.
