WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Jury selection began Monday morning, Sept. 9, in the trial of Michael Hasson, who was arrested in 2019 on allegations that he sexually assaulted over 20 patients while they were under anesthesia.
He faces 30 charges, including indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery, statutory rape and second-degree forcible sex offense, and the victims range in age from 12 to 69 years old.
During jury selection, about 40 people showed up.
The bailiff told WECT that the trial is expected to take months, with jury selection potentially taking up to two weeks.
Judge Gus Willis is presiding over the trial.
