TAR HEEL, N.C. (WECT) – The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men after a traffic stop on NC-87 West near Tar Heel on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
Per a release from BCSO, K9 Arco alerted officers to the smell of narcotics inside a vehicle and one of the passengers attempted to hide something as they were exiting the vehicle.
“Officers attempted to detain the subject, but the subject resisted and struck an officer in the head and fled the scene. The subject was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and was found to be in possession of trafficking amounts of narcotics,” the release states.
The driver, Christopher Nathaniel Pone, was charged with simple possession of schedule VI, possession of drug paraphernalia and served with warrants for three counts of trafficking methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle for keeping controlled substance. He is being held under a $1,002,000 secured bond.
Samuel Darell Melvin was charged with assault on a government official, RDO (Resist, Delay, Obstruct), trafficking cocaine, and possess controlled substance on jail premises. He is being held under a $500,000 secured bond.
Aundre Devon Lacey was arrested for being a wanted fugitive out of Virginia for ‘possession of dangerous drugs.’ He was also charged with simple possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held under a $501,000 secured bond.
