WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – With households around the county finishing up Halloween preparations, many are already getting a gameplan together for trick-or-treating.
Jessica Holt, with UScellular, spoke with WECT about some technology parents and guardians can use to ensure kids stay safe and have fun while going door-to-door.
“Apps that would be great to download tonight, so ahead of time, Nextdoor. I was actually just looking at it earlier, where you can map out places that are giving out candy, that have, like, awesome decorations, so you can make the most of your time tomorrow night,” Holt said.
Children with smartphones can share their location easily with others. However, for kids that don’t have a phone, devices such as AirTags can be very useful.
“And maybe your kid doesn’t have a cell phone, so to have an AirTag or something like that, that you can hook onto their costume is something great, too, so you can see where they are,” Holt explained.
Holt also suggests taking a photo of your child in their costume, so that if you do get separated, you can show others the photo and not have to rely on your ability to describe the costume.
