OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Oak Island has lifted its swimming advisory for all ocean-side swimming sites except for the Caswell Beach Public Beach access.

The advisory was issued on Aug. 7 as Debby approached the state due to excessive rains and flooding potentially causing high levels of bacteria in the water and stormwater runoff containing pollutants such as waste from septic systems, sewer line breaks, pet waste, wildlife, petroleum products and other chemicals.
