ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – State labor officials have joined in the investigation of a worker who was killed Sunday night at an Eastern Carolina water treatment plant.
Rocky Mount says 19-year-old Trace Christman died after he was shocked while working on an electrical junction box at the Leaston Road water treatment plant.
The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. The city says after Christman was shocked he fell into the water at the pumping station.
“The tragic loss of Trace Christman, a young employee with a bright future, is deeply saddening,” said City Manager Keith Rogers. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Christman family and the greater Rocky Mount community.”
In addition to the city, the North Carolina Department of Labor is investigating the workplace fatality.
