Panthers, Atrium Health and The American Cancer Society to honor Keep Pounding coin toss captains

October 8, 2021 By Fox Wilmington

CHARLOTTE – On Sunday, Oct. 10, the Carolina Panthers, Atrium Health and The American Cancer Society will honor cancer fighters and survivors who are serving as the game’s honorary Crucial Catch/Keep Pounding coin toss captains. Together, they honor those who have lost their battle to cancer, those who are in the fight as well as celebrate those who have conquered the disease.

Sunday’s honorary captains are Dyson Allen, Sandra Goldman, Cindy Pembleton, Alethea Ramey, Janine Harkrader and Tiffany Sanders.

The captains, who will wear full Panthers uniforms, will present Sunday’s official game coin at midfield as they each wear the No. 51 jersey in tribute to the late Panthers player and coach Sam Mills, who famously exhorted the Panthers to “Keep Pounding” during his courageous battle with cancer during the team’s Super Bowl XXXVIII season. Jerseys will also feature authentic NFL Crucial Catch captains patches.

The captains’ nameplates will read Warrior, Grateful, Conqueror, Fighter, Love and Survivor to recognize both the courage and resolve that is a hallmark of those battling the disease, as well as recognizing the love and care provided by family and medical support systems so vital to patients.

The Carolina Panthers would like to thank Atrium Health and the American Cancer Society for selecting Sunday’s captains.
