WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County chapter of Special Olympics is hosting its Fall Games on Oct. 17-18 at Legion Stadium.

The preschool athletes will compete on Thursday and Friday for school-age and adult participants.

550 athletes will compete in a variety of sports, including bocce, soccer, volleyball, obstacle courses, relay races and more.

“This is the best day of the year for all of our athletes to show off all of their hard work over the year. This is the only sporting day many of our athletes get and we are excited to celebrate each and every athlete’s hard work,” Wilmington city officials wrote in a press release.
