BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – In an effort to streamline COVID-19 vaccination appointments, Brunswick County health leaders are asking those 75 years or older to sign up for a MyChart account if they don’t already have one.
In a joint news release from Novant Health, Dosher Memorial, and Brunswick County Health Services, officials say signing up for an account would allow those eligible and interested in getting the vaccine to be notified automatically when they can schedule an appointment.
“Recipients do not need to be affiliated with a specific healthcare system to sign up for MyChart or to receive a vaccination,” the news release stated. “Due to limited vaccine availability, vaccinations will be by appointment only and at a centralized location in Brunswick County.”
Novant Health was among the first hospitals in the state to get the vaccine and has the capacity to store doses in both regular and ultra-cold storage.
This week, the state of North Carolina transitioned to Phase 1b group 1 of its vaccination plan, which includes anyone 75 years or older, regardless of medical or living conditions.
