WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Spanish Harlem Orchestra and Lila Downs are set to play concerts at CFCC’s Wilson Center.
The Spanish Harlem Orchestra show is set for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
“Spanish Harlem Orchestra sets the gold standard for excellence in authentic, New York-style, hard-core salsa (salsa dura). Whether in a concert hall or at an outdoor jazz festival, there is no easing in as they come at your full force, from start to finish. Their energy on stage, rich sound, and musical precision mesmerize audiences until the last note is played. With an unwavering respect for the music’s storied history, the ensemble’s thirteen world-class musicians and vocalists come together to create an unparalleled musical experience,” a CFCC announcement states.
Lila Downs is set to perform on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
“Lila Downs, the iconic GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® award-winning singer, is one of the world’s most singular and powerful voices, whose compelling stage presence and poignant storytelling transcend all language barriers. Lila Downs weaves her unique interpretation of traditional Mexican and Mesoamerican music with deeply personal renditions of classic rancheras and her own original stories. As a passionate human-rights activist, Lila’s lyrics often highlight issues relating to social justice and sharing stories that too often go untold,” the announcement continues.
