SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – The Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry is operating on an amended schedule on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7.

“On Sept. 6, the ferry will make its scheduled departures from Southport at 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m., and from Fort Fisher at 6:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. After that, the route will suspend operations for the rest of the day Friday and all day Saturday,” an NCDOT announcement states.

The suspension will allow crews to do maintenance on ramps and marine pilings at the Southport ferry terminal.

The route will resume as normal on Sunday, Sept. 8.
