Some roads remain closed, several reopen in southeastern NC after Idalia

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Several roads flooded and/or closed during Tropical Storm Idalia.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation reports on its DriveNC webpage that the following roadways are impassable at this time:

  • A portion of U.S. 701 BUS (S. Madison St.) near Lee Street in Whiteville
  • A portion of N.C. 905 (Seven Creeks Hwy) near Gores Chapel Road in Pireway
  • Pireway Bridge is passable but drivers are advised to travel slowly and monitor conditions due to rising storm water from Idalia in the area.
