Siddle agrees to five-year contract extension with UNCW
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Takayo Siddle has agreed to a five-year contract extension which will keep him as the UNCW Men’s Basketball Head Coach through the year 2030. The UNCW Board of Trustees approved the contract extension during a meeting Wednesday afternoon.
”Coach Siddle and his staff have been instrumental in our historic success this decade, culminating in a CAA Championship earlier this month,” UNCW Athletics Director Mike Oblinger said in an email news release. “We look forward to sustaining success as we continue to elevate our men’s basketball program.”
The amended contract now extends Siddle’s employment from March 31, 2027, to April 14, 2030.
The annual base salary will remain $300,000 per year, but there will be bonus pay in certain instances. According to the contract, Siddle will receive an additional $25,000 for each NCAA post-season tournament game played, $25,000 for a regular season CAA tourney or conference championship, $15,000 for reaching 25 wins during the season, and $15,000 for top 100 NCAA net ranking.
Siddle will also receive an additional $5,000 for 2,000 UNCW Men’s Basketball season tickets sold or $10,000 for 2,500 UNCW Men’s Basketball season tickets sold.

“Defense wins championships, but so do administrations,” Siddle said in the same news release. “Chancellor Aswani K. Volety, the Board of Trustees and Director of Athletics Mike Oblinger understand exactly what it takes. I’m humbled and blessed to work for such great people. Mike is the absolute best in the business. Hands down. He sought out a group of people in the community for their support and they delivered. I’m very thankful for their generosity! “To the city of Wilmington, our fans and our students. You guys are amazing and thank you for embracing me with open arms. Let’s keep it rolling! Go Hawks!”
The 38-year-old Siddle has a 106-47 record in his five seasons coaching UNCW, including the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Tournament Championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament. According to the university, Siddle is the only coach in the program’s Division I era to guide the Seahawks to four consecutive seasons with 20 or more victories.
