CHADBOURN, N.C. (WECT) – A man has been charged with several drug-related crimes following an investigation in Chadbourn, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

Per the report, the CCSO Narcotics Division had been investigating the distribution of drugs within the Chadbourn community.

“Detectives from the Narcotics Division, supported by members of the Special Operations Division, executed a search warrant with the valuable assistance of the Chadbourn Police Department. The coordinated efforts of these agencies resulted in the apprehension of Mr. Malik Jaquan Billings, also known by the alias ‘Hatch,’” the CCSO release states.

Billings, 26, has been charged with:

  • Trafficking in opium or heroin
  • Possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine
  • Possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana
  • Maintaining a dwelling place for the sale of a controlled substance
  • Altering/stealing/destroying criminal evidence
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting a public office

He was given a $75,000 secured bond.

“It is noteworthy that Mr. Billings has been the subject of previous narcotic-related investigations. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is steadfast in its objective to eradicate the persistent distribution of narcotics by repeat offenders, which continues to fuel addiction and lead to overdoses across Columbus County,” the CCSO adds.
