SHALLOTTE, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Shallotte has reported that approximately 1,600 gallons of untreated wastewater discharged from the force main at 4830 Main Street Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 13, for about three minutes.

“The untreated wastewater that was not recovered entered into the Shallotte River. The broken line was immediately repaired to prevent further discharge. This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes, Article 21, Chapter 143.215.1C ,” the notice states.

Anyone looking for more information is directed to contact the town at 910-754-4032. The NC Department of Water Quality has been notified of the discharge.
