SHALLOTTE, N.C. (WECT) – Approximately 12,150 gallons of untreated wastewater discharged from the lift station at 149 Park Drive in Shallotte on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, according to an announcement from the town.

The discharge lasted for around 30 minutes.

The wastewater flowed into an adjacent ditch, and was recovered by pump trucks and processed for treatment.

“The Division of Emergency Management was notified of the event on 8/17/2024 and is reviewing the matter. For more information please contact the Town of Shallotte at 910.754.4032,” the town adds.
