WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority is set to meet Thursday, Sept. 26, during which a public comment period will be held in reference to route and service changes associated with the Reimagine Wave Transit plan.

According to the Reimagine Wave Transit webpage, proposed changes include:

  • The transit system’s first-ever 15-minute service
  • Thirty-minute Saturday service on Route 108 (Market Street)
  • The Port City Trolley will operate more frequently and on Sundays
  • Direct connection between Padgett Station and Mayfaire every hour on the new Route 206 (Oleander Drive)
  • More bus stops on College Road

Those looking to comment on the plan will have up to five minutes per person during the meeting to do so. The meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Forden Station, 505 Cando Street in Wilmington.

Those who do not plan on attending can download a comment form here and email it to info@wavetransit.com by 5 p.m. on Sept. 25. The form can also be picked up from Wave Transit transfer stations.

“The final recommendations will contain service changes for Wave Transit that we intend to begin implementing in late 2024. It is important to us that these service changes reflect the needs and desires of our community. A survey to collect feedback on the final draft of the proposed changes is available now through September 15th,” Wave Transit states on its website.

The survey can be found here.
