WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – On Monday, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners is set to review a proposal that would add new apartments on Carolina Beach next to Glenarthur Drive.
Developers want to build up to 64 apartments on the 4.65-acre plot, and the apartments would be split across four buildings. The highest of the buildings would be three stories tall.
The developers proposed a condition to reserve six of the units for workforce housing.
The development proposes adding a right turn lane off Carolina Beach Road through to the existing lane onto Glenarthur Drive.
The proposal has a recommendation from staff and the planning board, but it was denied 3-2 back in May of 2023.
No changes have been made to the application since then, and the decision is set to be made this afternoon.
You can find full meeting agendas on the county’s website.
