CASWELL BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Power has been fully restored in Brunswick County after an outage affected 600 Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) customers near Caswell Beach Thursday night. The cause was a broken pad mount, according to a Facebook post by the company.
BEMC first reported the outage at 9:01 p.m. on Facebook, saying “We are aware of an outage in the Caswell Beach area affecting approximately 600 members. Our crew is assessing the situation and will restore power as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience, members.”
By 9:40 p.m., BEMC reported partial restoration, but that work was being impeded due to fireworks traffic.
BEMC reported all but three customers had been restored at 10:40 p.m. By then, crews determined the cause of the outage to be a broken pad mount.
Power was fully restored by 11:40 p.m.
Anyone still without power is being asked to report the outage by calling or texting 800-682-5309, via SmartHub, or by using the online outage form located here.
