WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington Police Department is working with State Highway Patrol near 3rd and Davis streets to detour commercial motor vehicles from driving down 3rd Street.
“The NCDOT Cape Fear Memorial Bridge preservation project affects everyone traveling the roads in our community. WPD and partner agencies are doing our part to mitigate challenges that are a result of the NCDOT work that is currently being done on the bridge,” a WPD announcement states.
Police remind commercial drivers to stay on designated truck routes provided by signage posted on the roads and online and to make sure they are using a GPS navigation system programmed properly for use in a commercial vehicle.
“As a reminder, commercial vehicle drivers are subject to being cited for traveling on roadways that prohibit commercial motor vehicles,” the announcement continues.
