KURE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Police have determined that a surfing accident is what killed one person in Kure Beach Friday, August 23.
Per the Kure Beach Police Department, units responded to the 600 block of North Fort Fisher Blvd just after 5:30 p.m. in reference to an unconscious person on the beach.
First responders arriving on scene began life saving measures, but the person died. Working with the state Medical Examiner’s office, authorities determined that the fatal injuries were caused by a surfing accident.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Bryan Richard Yurecka from Wilmington.
