RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) – Pender County Schools received the Purple Star Award for the 2024-25 school year.

According to Pender County Schools, the Purple Star Award is a part of the NC Department of Public Instruction’s effort to honor schools that provide support to military families.

The district says this is a reflection of its commitment to support military-related students.

“Pender County Schools has long been dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, including those from military families,” said Dr. Brad Breedlove, Superintendent of Pender County Schools. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff to make sure military families feel welcomed and supported in our schools.”
