WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Pender County School (PCS) bus was involved in an accident while driving students home.

Bus 249 was in an accident near Hwy 117 and Woodhaven Dr. Thankfully, no students were reported injured.

Emergency services were notified and are assessing the location, according to PCS.

A spare bus will take students home as soon as they are released by emergency services.

PCS officials sent in the following statement:

“This afternoon, Pender County Schools Bus 249 was involved in an accident during its afternoon route near the intersection of Highway 117 and Woodhaven Drive. There have been no reports of student injuries and all students have been released from the scene.

“Bus 249 was transporting students from Heide Trask High School at the time of the accident. Bus 249 was able to be driven back to the Pender County Schools bus garage.

“Pender County Schools appreciates the patience and understanding of the involved families. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.”

Emergency services were notified and are assessing the location, according to PCS.
