WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Pender County School Board voted 2-1 to cancel its contract with Duke Energy over charging stations for electric buses on Tuesday, July 16.
The board had received three buses from the state through Volkswagen Settlement funding and the contract provided charging stations for the buses for free until 2025 when the terms of the deal could change.
Boardmember Brent Springer made the motion to cancel the contract and Phil Cordiero joined the vote.
