PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – On July 16, Pender County announced the completion of its annual review of flood mitigation action strategies as outlined in the 2021 Southeastern North Carolina Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The review evaluates the statuses of each strategy as part of the county’s efforts to ensure community safety.
Efforts include the board approving and funding a position focused on improving drainage throughout the county’s natural waterways, noting that state and federally-funded grant programs have been executed in the past year to stabilize streambanks and remove debris from natural drainage channels.
