PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Pender County residents are being warned about someone claiming to be a deputy with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

“This individual is calling residents of our county and informing them that they have a bench warrant or missed a court date and instructing them that they need to show up at the Sheriff’s Office to take care of said warrants. They are also claiming that personal computers have been hacked and asking for money to be transferred to different accounts. Please be aware that this is a scam,” PCSO wrote on their Facebook page.
