PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – With the drought across North Carolina causing significant issues for farmers, some officials are asking the state and federal government to declare a disaster for impacted farmers.
On Monday, July 15, the Pender County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution stating that the drought is impacting farmers’ ability to get a return on their investments and produce yields as needed. So, the county is asking the state and federal government to make a disaster declaration.
The Bladen County Board of Commissioners on Monday evening is set to consider a similar resolution asking for help from the state and federal government.
