Home opener vs. Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 15

It seems mighty fair to assume ticket prices are due to the team’s horrendous Week 1 performance.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Tickets for the Carolina Panthers home opener versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 15, are cheap.

So cheap…that as of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, Vividseats had a few listed for as low as $21, just about the least expensive of any Week 2 NFL game. Ticketmaster even had a handful selling for $28.

Luckily (or not) for the Panthers, the Arizona Cardinals matched Carolina’s price for Week 2 tickets, as some were listed at $21 on Vividseats. Others were selling for as low as $25 on Ticketmaster.

But…why?

Well, that question isn’t crystal clear — though it seems mighty fair to assume it could be due to the team’s horrendous Week 1 performance.

Carolina was blown out by the New Orleans Saints, 47-10. As if the 2023 season was not bad enough, the Panthers started 2024 with their worst loss since 2019, and at one point in the first half were down 30-0.

Carolina, who went 2-15 last season, made front office, coaching and key roster changes in hopes of showing more promise this season. But the season opener could not have gone much worse for new coach Dave Canales and second-year quarterback Bryce Young.

Young was 13 of 30 passing for 161 yards and was intercepted twice.

“New year, same old Panthers.”

That was country music sensation Luke Combs’ thoughts after Week 1 — and probably every other Panthers supporter.

The Charlotte-area native and lifelong Carolina fan shared his thoughts on social media and went on to say the team was “absolutely gruesome” to watch.
