CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The Carolina Panthers are sending a star defensive player to his first Pro Bowl next month.
Defensive tackle Derrick Brown was named to the NFL’s all-star game on Friday, replacing Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald on the NFC roster.
Brown had a monster season in 2023, setting a new record for tackles among defensive linemen with 103. In addition to the triple-digit tackle numbers, he also recorded two sacks and his second career interception.
The Panthers’ star was initially named a Pro Bowl alternate, but is replacing Donald after he suffered an injury.
Fellow Carolina players Brian Burns, Johnny Hekker and J.J. Jansen were also named alternates.
The Pro Bowl will be held in Orlando on Feb. 4, with skill competitions earlier in the week.
