WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – Over 200 children with autism are set to take part in a Surfers Healing camp at Wrightsville Beach on Monday, Aug. 19, according to an announcement from Surfers Healing Autism Foundation.

“Surfers Healing Autism Foundation’s mission is to enrich the lives of people living with autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing. Our group of professional surfers come from around the world to participate in over 30 camps across the continental United States, assisting over 2000 children affected by autism to surf,” the release states.

Registration is closed for this year’s free event, but those interested are encouraged to keep an eye on the foundation’s website for when next year’s schedule is announced.

The camp will be held at beach accesses 26 and 27, at Birmingham and Oceanic avenues.
