BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Crews responded to an early morning fire Thursday, July 11, at a campground near Holden Beach.
According to the Tri-Beach Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters responded to the scene on Destiny Catilyn Avenue SW in the Ocean Breeze Family Campground just after 2:45 a.m.
The fire destroyed a shed and motorcycle, and heavily damaged a camper.
A cat was killed, according to owner of the camper, but they and their dog were able to escape without any injuries.
The other person who was in the camper at the time of the fire received minor burns and was treated on scene.
The owner says the two of them woke up to a popping noise and found the shed already ablaze.
Authorities are working to determine the cause of the fire.
