Free well water testing being offered in southeastern NC

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Private well users in southeastern N.C. can get their samples analyzed for bacteria and metals thanks to a program via Northeastern University and the county department of health and human services.

Residents will be given a $10 gift card for their participation, and test kits will be distributed Aug. 12-16 at the PCDHHS office on 803 South Walker Street, Burgaw. You can also pick up test kits at the Brunswick County Health Services Building A at the county government center a 25 Court House Dr. NE, Bolivia, at the same dates.

Samples must be collected and returned on the morning of Aug. 19 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the health department office in Burgaw or the office at 15060 US Hwy 17, Hampstead. For Brunswick County, you can return the samples on the morning of Aug. 20 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the health services building.
