WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A new president and CEO has been selected for the New Hanover Community Endowment following a nationwide search, according to the endowment.

Winslow was introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.

He says the position is a culmination of his life’s work to solve problems and improve lives.

Per the announcement, Dan Winslow has been selected for the role. He will begin on Oct. 1.

“Dan Winslow’s distinguished career spans various roles across the business, legal, legislative, and nonprofit industries. As a former Massachusetts judge, legislator, and chief legal counsel to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, he has served in senior roles across all three branches of state government,” the announcement states. “Since October 2021, Winslow has led the New England Legal Foundation (NELF) in Boston, which champions free enterprise, property rights, limited government based on rule of law, and inclusive economic growth. He conceived NELF’s Equalizer Institute, which will serve as a free legal clinic for underrepresented entrepreneurs to start and grow their new businesses.”

“Winslow brings extensive private sector experience to NHCE,” the announcement adds. “He built and managed a global legal team of nearly 70 lawyers and legal professionals for Rimini Street, Inc. during the company’s transition from private to public company status. Additionally, he served as a partner or counsel to two international law firms.

“Winslow’s appointment brings a fresh perspective and innovative strategies to drive NHCE’s mission forward. His vision and leadership will enhance the NHCE’s ability to address community needs and expand impact.”

As a newcomer to the area, Winslow will have to get to know the community an the non-profit organizations the endowment serves.

He believes having a fresh perspective will benefit the neighbors of the community.

“I don’t want to come in with ideas, necessarily, before I’ve had the chance to speak with people about their ideas. I think I need to have the benefit of community perspective. As I’ve said, I don’t know anybody. I have no allegiances, I have no alliances, I am a complete blank canvas in terms of what’s gone on before me. I know some folks have been unhappy. I hope to learn from those people,” said Winslow.
