Last Frontier Project
Per a message from County Manager Chris Coudriet, the commissioners heard an update during the meeting on Monday, July 22, regarding infrastructure funding in northern New Hanover County, also known as the Last Frontier Project by the county.
The county and Cape Fear Public Utility Authority are making efforts to increase access to water and sewer due to feedback from developers that the area does not have adequate infrastructure. The estimated cost of the expansion is $39.6 million, and the state has allocated about $30 million to make it possible.
Water and sewer is set to be available to the northern area of the county as early as December 2025.
