New Hanover Co. Public Library Summer Book Sale begins this weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Public Library’s annual Summer Book Sale begins on the first weekend of August.

The sale is hosted at the Northeast Library at 1241 Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington.

As usual, Friends of the Library members can get in on Friday, Aug. 2, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. You can join them at the door on the day of the sale for $20 per year. Hardbacks will be $3, and paperbacks will be $2.

Free admission begins the following day and lasts the length of the sale:

  • Saturday, Aug. 3: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Hardbacks $3, paperbacks $2
  • Sunday, Aug. 4: 1 to 5 p.m.
    • Hardbacks $2, paperbacks $1
  • Monday, Aug. 5: 3 to 7 p.m.
    • Hardbacks $2, paperbacks $1
  • Friday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks 50 cents
  • Saturday, Aug. 10: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks 50 cents
  • Sunday, Aug. 11: 1 to 5 p.m.
    • The final day, all items .25 cents

Tens of thousands of titles are up for grabs, and historically, each sale raises roughly $60,000.

You can find titles that peak your interest and the money raised is put right back into the system.
