WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Branch NAACP is set to host its 2024 Freedom Fund banquet on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the UNCW Burney Center.

The black-tie event is the branch’s biggest activity to raise funds for its mission to eliminate discrimination and help secure the well-being of Black people and people of color.

“The guest speaker will be Attorney Reginald “Reggie” Shuford, executive director of the North Carolina Justice Center and immediate past Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Pennsylvania. The theme will be “Answering the Call for Public Service,” a NAACP announcement states.
