WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – At an agenda review meeting Thursday evening, Aug. 15, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners discussed establishing a county Animal Advisory Committee.
Commissioner Dane Scalise in particular advocated for the committee, which would include members of the sheriff’s department, animal welfare advocates and county representatives.
The committee could address issues such as puppy mills that affect the well being of animals.
No decision was made, but future discussions could lead to the formation of an actual committee.
